VIRUS/SPYWARE!!! Computer Turns On & Files Not Erased but...?

I get a messages stating ''your computer is in danger! Windows security center has detected spyware/adware infection! It is strongly recommended to use special antispyware...'' My Spybot will open but when I try to search and destroy I get an error message and the program shuts down. Same thing happens with Norton. Any suggestions? Will Malware removal work? I can burn CDs on this comp to help my laptop. PLEASE HELP! Thanks.

Boot your computer into safe mood (press F8 as your computer is booting up and from a list, choose Safe Mode). If you are able to get to the main desktop of Windows, open Norton and do a scan of your whole system. I recommend doing the same with the Spyware removal program as well. Once you are done scanning is safe mode, reboot the computer and try scanning all over again after your computer has booted up normally.

Hope this helps.

if you have a spyware problem, then you definetely need some professional help, fortunately companies like microsoft and symantec are aiding for free all computer users, since this spyware problem is actually doing so much harm to their business that most large companies like ibm and microsoft are teaming up to try to eradicate this problem.

here are several things you can do to increase the ''speed'' of your computer.

1) Clean up the disk. Uninstall unneeded programs (especially those that run at startup and/or put something in the system tray), run Disk Cleanup, and defragment the drive. This is a good first step that will almost always take a few seconds off boot time and application loads for any computer.

2) Stomp auto-starting programs. Click Start %26gt; Run and type ''msconfig'' at the prompt. Click the Startup tab and look at all that junk that loads when you launch your PC. Do you really need ''Adobe Reader Speed Launch''? Probably not. Turn off anything else that looks useless, but be careful not to disable your anti-virus and important system components.

Security management degree??? worth it?

I want to get into data security and I am currently earning a BA in security management also majoring in computer programming. What jobs could I get out of college with no security or law enforcement or military experience?? I want to earn my CPP and CISSP but am no where near the requirements

Security management degree??? worth it?ktm

Generally, IT (computer security) and general (physical) security are two separate career paths.

For IT security, your best bet would probably be to start off with an entry level type of general IT job to get some industry experience, and then transition into the IT security field. Eventually, you will get the experience and skills you will need to pass the CISSP and/or one of the many other IT security certifications.

Many people in the general security field first start off in the military or in law enforcement. You don't have to have this type of background, but it can be helpful.

If I was just getting out of school with a security management degree, and wanted to get into general security, I would probably try to get a job with one of the larger security consulting firms (AON, Kroll, Control Risks) or one of the larger, more reputable security guard agencies, such as Guardsmark. After you have a few years of experience under your belt, then you can begin to get some of the industry certifications such as the CPP and PSP.

The important thing in any case is to get a job, any job, just to get your foot in the door of a quality company. Once you are inside of a good company in your chosen field, you can then work your way towards your ultimate goal.

Hi,

Yahoo mail is experiencing a glitch. I haven't found a fix for it yet In the mean-time inform Yahoo! of the problem: http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/mail/c...

For those who can't get in at all try this as it seems to be working for a few.

http://myyahoo.com

Login on My Yahoo! page

Select the link at top right to go to Yahoo!'s Home Page.

Mouse over the Mail Icon under where it says (Hi, your Yahoo! id).

You should get a drop down menu with your latest emails displayed.

Select an email and click it. You then get to a new page about Shortcuts, but just select the button for Mail and it should take you to your Mail page.

It wasn't getting redirected to the shortcuts page on some servers and not going to the mail page.

I hope this helps some until Yahoo! Mail gets a fix for us.

HELP!!! my computer has been hacked !!!?

i'm pretty certain that my computer is being hacked, every minute (or maybe less then that) at least 2 things pop up saying that my computer is in serious danger and that somebody is attacking my computer, and it changes my desktop about every 20 minutes to a warning sign, and no matter how muh i try to change my home page it's always this ultimate cleaner thing, and everytime i leave my computer for maybe an hour there are at least 30 popups telling me that my security is low and my computer is in danger. so i figured i'd click on one of these popups, but when i try to download it it won't let me. it's hard to play computer games now because of all these popups and it's making my computer go reaaalllly reaaallly slow. and even though all of this is happening, when i scanned my computer with spybot and norton antivirus nothing came up at all. someone help i don't know what to do

Go to start and go to control panel there select add/remove programs and scroll through to see if this ''clean up trojan'' is in there and if so, check the box and check remove. Otherwise shut down and reboot, then go to control panel and tools, then internet options and select ''system restore''to a time before the hacking incident. Good luck! Here**try this--Windows XP System Restore Is Easy to UseDescribes how to use the System Restore Wizard to recover from a system failure and when to use other troubleshooting techniques.

  • What is a good free security for windows xp thaats free?

Hi my friend wants to find a free security to put on her computer anyone know of a good security she can use?She has tried AVG , and exceleration.com (never heard of it!)Her computer is very slow and was wondering what is another security she could try.

What is a good free security for windows xp thaats free?malware

Try Zone alarm suite. It's not free, but it deserves every $. It has firewall, anti-virus program, a program for eliminating spyware and all the things you need for your computer to be OK. So give it a try!

What is a good free security for windows xp thaats free?norton 360

yes zone alarm is great listen to himm---/herr-----also get AD AWARE se pro---still not free but i personally ran ad aware and ZAP for 6-7 mos without a virus program and had no issues-------installed norton---now i have slight bullshit issues Report It

Download and then run startup.exe at:

    http://www.mlin.net/startupcpl.shtml.......

Can't live without it and windows...

Then disable and/or uninstall whatever u don't need.

    Joe...
    nortan internet security
Try ZONEALARM its good... it has got nice firewall. If your friend's PC has a very good RAM try NORTON. its good too.
there is no GOOD FREE security software (most of them will disable some functions and give you just basic AtiVirus/AntiSpyware options-and that`s NOTHING,some of the even wont let you update virus definitions)%26gt;for BEST comercial software (and it worths every cent) ZoneAlarm Internet Security
putting security (antivirus) is not going to speed it up. She has to clean it up first and then keep it clean. More than likely she has a load of spyware on the machine. Go and download Ewido and run it. www.ewido.com

Then download spybot from www.download.com and run that. You should see it get faster once all the junk is off of it.

Another free antivirus is avast at www.avast.com.
I agree that the slowness is most likely the pc needing to be cleaned up. As far as security goes I have found that a combination of AVG for antivirus, AdAware for antispyware, the built in XP firewall (if you have XP pro) and a little common sense goes a long ways. AVG and AdAware both have free versions that allow updating of virus and spyware definitions.

    Google security virus???

For the past 3 weeks I haven't been able to access google.com because of some weird virus I have. Anytime I try to access google or any google related site (such as gmail and google checkout), I get taken to page entitled google security. It says that my computer is infected and that I need anti-virus software. I have read on other forums that this is a trick that could potentially download malware and/or a winfixer on to my computer. Does anybody have an idea about what's wrong and what I could do to fix this? Thanks.

    Google security virus???matchless

Next time get a Mac. 3 years with a Mac now, and not a single virus, ever.

    Google security virus???norton 2008

Google protects itself from automated scripts by asking you to enter a CAPTCHA code if it detects an irregular amount of automated queries sent from your machine. These pages provides only a warning that your PC may be infected with malware, but it never try to sell you any software, it only warns you about an potential infection, it is up to you what you do about your malware problem. If you want to complete the search you started you need to enter the characters in the image presented to you.

If this ''google security'' page isn't hosted on google.com (in other words google.com needs to be the top-level domain) then get away from the page is quickly as possible.
